Been awhile, huh?

There's a bunch that has been going on thoug. In December I got pretty sick. I started with bronchitis, got a bit better, went on a cruise and came home with walking pneumonia, a son with strep throat, a littler son with a bit of a tummy bug and a husband with his very own cold. Yay us. And then a birthday for my newly 7yo boy, oh and don't forget Hanukkah in there and school vacation and then DH's 2 weeks off... Well you get the picture.

So now our lives have gotten back to normal. Well a new normal. We are now homeschooling. Z had some trouble at school with bullying and social inclusion issues and so we had some discussions with his teacher and the administrator and agreed that we would try out a half homeschooling/half regular school (basically mornings at home and school from lunchtime on) This lasted for 2 weeks until the head of the independant study department freaked out on us and put the kibosh on it by phone until furter notice and then scheduled a meeting to discuss it a week later. Now, in the meantime, DH and I both noticed that Z is doing much better. He still has plenty of growth to make up in order to be as socially mature as his peers, but things are improving. His work is improving. His handwriting has grown by leaps and bounds. His artwork has also.

We took a trip last week to the Carpinteria Bluffs to see the Seal Rookery preserve :

This trip involved a couple mile hike, a chance to explore tar seeping from the ground (it is pretty close to Carpinteria's Tarpits park) And of course see some seals out near the shore from the bluffs above. The birthing and baby rearing doesn't really hit it's peak until the end of next month though, so we'll be going back late February or early March to check it out again.

And here is some of his artwork from this week:

Good to see you again. I was just starting to wonder if you'd left us bloggers for the real world. LOL I'm also glad to hear to that Z is doing well HSing. Little Man has been doing great at public K, but I always keep in my mind the idea of HSing if *anything* gets bothersome about school.
